APC: A BROKEN PROMISE

The year was 2015. The day bright and gloomy. The night filled with the serenity of the defeated and the celebration of the victorious. The air filled with jubilation that a new party has emerged the winner of the 2015 Nigerian Presidential election. The party was APC. A former Head of State Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, the party's presidential candidate emerged victorious defeating the likes of Kano state former Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, former vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Imo state Governor Rochas Okorocha and newspaper editor Sam Nda-Isaiah in its primaries held on December 10,2014. APC was founded on February 6 2013 with her exceptional mantra "change".

2015 was indeed a tipping point for the opposition parties in Nigeria. For good 16years, the then ruling PDP never gave any opposition the chance to smell the Presidency. It was as though PDP would continue to rule for as long as Nigeria continued to be a Democratic Nation. In fact, on different occasions PDP adherents like Prince Vincent Ogbulafor, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, Patience Jonathan had attested to the fact that PDP was designed and conceptualized to rule Nigeria for 60years. Abdulhaleem Ishaq Ringim gladly puts it well " but the tipping point for PDP was 2015 and the agent that forced PDP to the tipping point was APC with its change mantra". But over the years I sadly ask how well? Having or creating a fabulous slogan won't solve the problems of millions of Nigerians languishing in abject poverty. Action speaks louder than words. A promise never made is much better than a promise broken. And just like the bible says "Better not to promise than to promise and not fulfill". APC came like the wind of change from a whirlwind, catching the gleeful eyes of many Nigerians hoping for a better future but, it fell like the Iroko tree that resisted the wind every time it blew at it and great was its fall. Being fully aware of the sufferings of the majority masses of Nigeria, APC came into existence with promises they know fully well they won't fulfill and upon till today Nigerians are still suffering.  In fact the suffering worsened. Ranging from 1999 that democracy took over military rule in Nigeria this has been the worst ruling government. The rates at which poverty, crime, killings and kidnapping, favouritism etc not just increased but climaxed is so alarming. It is appalling.

It is pertinent for me to gladly say " it is over for APC". The door is shut. They shot themselves on the foot. Unless the election is rigged. Ruling a diverse and populous nation like Nigeria is no easy feat at all. It is estimated that over 133million Nigerians are languishing in absolute poverty. To uproot such estimated tree of poverty cannot be done by the President alone but requires the collective effort of the ruling party because if the incumbent President performs his duties well, the accolades goes to him and also to the party in which he belongs. Then defeating the man in the arena (President) or another electoral candidate of the party won't be an easy feat for any opposition party since the incumbent party performed well. But alas, APC didn't.

During the tenure of the former President His Excellency Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Bokoharam rampaged Nigeria like she had no leader. Dr Goodluck Jonathan being no military leader and having no military experience did the best he could but to Nigerians his best wasn't enough in fact his best was no where near. Then came in the Almighty General His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari promising to deliver his beloved country from the crisis ravaging it. Claiming that Nigeria needed a military hand to squash Bokoharam. Boasting that he was the only one to deliver simply because he was a military man. But even the Mighty General with all his vast arrears of military experience couldn't deliver us from the cold hands of Bokoharam. Turning around instead, crime, poverty and corruption did not only increase under his watch but his tenure birthed banditary, unknown gun men saga, mass abduction of students even near military bases, burning of government properties,Fulani herdsmen rampage and so on and so forth. And I boldly ask how art the Mighty fallen? Ruling Nigeria for good 8years and still not being able to make any impact is a slap on the face of Gen. Muhammad Buhari GCFR. So easy it is to make promises and just like they say, talk is cheap. A great leader is known not by mere words but by his actions and his actions are what he would be remembered for.

During his inauguration our able bodied President promised Nigerians that he would reduce the cost of dollar and that in his reign naira will sell at 1naira per dollar i.e making naira equal with dollar. Permit me to use the caption "making Nigeria great again" but it wasn't to be. At one time naira sold at 800naira per dollar under his supposed watch. In fact, instead of decreasing the prices of goods and services increased to the extent that an average Nigerian cannot afford to feed his family, everyday prices of goods are still increasing to the disadvantage of the poor masses. We've been complaining and we are still complaining but our complaints fell on deaf ears, we've been crying and we are still crying but our tears fell on Pharaoh's heart.

                            APC: A BROKEN PROMISE.

The rate of unemployment is nothing to write home about. The number of unemployed youths is alarming. What about the graduates that are roaming the streets in the name of looking for jobs. Permit me to say, looking for jobs have now become their job, whereas we have men in authority who have refused to do their own jobs. The job of providing jobs for the youths. How on earth are we gonna have a better tomorrow if our future isn't promised? Let it be prophesied, in other to make it seem like they care, they created the N-Power project. How many people benefited from the so called project? Is it still on board or has it collapsed? What about the 774,000 local government jobs scheme launched by the Federal government or rather coordinated by the National Directorate of Employment (NDE). Who benefitted from it? These are just flimsy promises that were never fulfilled to make it seem like they care.

                      APC: A BROKEN PROMISE.

What about the President's kinsmen that are slaughtering people like the cows they ate rearing, causing havoc everywhere in the country? The Fulani herdsmen. Did the President say anything about them? Okay what if he did what  have been done to stop them, what measures have been taken into place in other to quench the fire of these beasts in human form? They have worsened insecurity in Nigeria and if proper precautions are not taken I mean right now I tell you even the next government in power won't be able to stop them.

No jobs, no good roads, no electricity, no security, no good health sector, corruption, poverty, mass abduction of students, abduction and killing of religious workers, fraudulent practices even among the leaders, constant complaints of unpaid salaries, not to mention our students who were affected by bad governance, even our varsities were on strike for good 8months.

                         APC: A BROKEN PROMISE.
