POWER TUSSLE

Permit me to start with the ancient proverb "when two elephants fight, the grass suffers". It's a powerful and poignant African proverb. When powerful forces go to war, it's their people who get hurt. Those who never asked for the conflict in the first place are caught and killed in the crossfire.
This ancient proverb of the Kikuyu people, a tribal group in Kenya, Africa, is as true today as when the words were first spoken thousands of years ago. It's essence it's simplicity: when the large fight, it's the small who suffer most.
When leaders fight it is their followers who suffer. Leaders proclaim war anytime they feel like because they know they are protected and won't be the ones to draw the sword. They won't be the ones to carry the guns and exchange bullets with the common enemy. I even wonder why their houses aren't a target. Even the families of these leaders are protected and flown abroad to avoid them being caught up in the disaster. Just like Prince Hector told his father King Priam of Troy when his father opined that they go to war with the Greeks "excuse me father but you won't be the one fighting". Kings and leaders are always protected that's why they start wars they won't fight, some for good, some for power and some for selfish reasons.
You can imagine how an ex-Governor will like to have the helms of affairs of a state under his control instead of letting his successor breathe in peace. And this is why it would be very difficult for Africa to make any progress of some sort. Everyone wants to be in power without letting their brothers have a taste of this same power. Can't we learn from the Whites who give way for another once their time is up. If not for power and authority, what would make Nyesom Wike former Governor of Rivers State and the current Minister of FCT Abuja to desire to have Rivers State under his lock? He wants to be in total control even after stepping down for another thereby creating crisis in the state. I wonder why a man of his caliber respected by Nigerians would like to reap what he did not show, and they called it democracy who is deceiving who.
Kudos to Governor Fubara Siminalayi for his brave approach towards the situation. Imagine the police shooting and firing teargas on a sitting Governor. Leadership is not a child's play that you just plunge into you have to be prepared. I holler out again to Gov. Fubara for taking bold steps like the leader he is in surmounting the pressures of Nyesom Wike the FCT Minister. We have to put an end to this Godfatherism of a thing if truly we want to move forward as a nation. Some sitting governor's do not have the power to do certain things they are obligated to do because a hidden Godfather is somewhere secretly piloting the affairs of his state under his (governor) watch. We are born equal but with different abilities and every leader has his own agenda, his own way of doing things and should be allowed to do so.
Over 200 youths were arrested by the police and scores injured. Report even says that one was hit by stray bullet and died. But these evil men are alive and still in power. If this issue metarmophose into a full crisis, it is we the masses that will suffer. Wike should let the lying dog sleep. His time has passed. It is the time of Gov. Fubara and there is nothing the FCT Minister can do about it. Period. Allow a man to run his own shit in his own time.
The Biafran war is another good example of the proverb "when two elephants fight the grass suffers". Lt. Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu the brain box behind the Biafran war though fighting for his people lived 40years after the war while their were millions of people especially women and children consumed by the war. What about our honorable Head of State Yakubu Gowon who is still alive today inspite of sending thousands to fight? Truly the people suffer when those in power fight.
Most of the leaders during the World War didn't die during the war but millions of people, even those who knew nothing or were too innocent or too pure for such an occurrence were consumed by the inferno.
Vladimir Putin of Russia who declared a full blown war on Ukraine is very much alive and kicking but thousands if not millions of people have died as a result of his declaration.
I beg leaders of all spheres of life to please consider their subjects life before declaring war on their (leaders) enemies.
              I        REST       MY       CASE.
